Paryeongsan (Mt. 608.6m) is a rare place to enjoy hiking with thrill in Jeonnam and also a perfect place to appreciate the scenery of Dadohae (Archipelago) where islands float like stepping stones under the foot of the mountain.

25km away to the east of Goheung-eup, it is located at the end of Sobaek Mountain Range.  Eight peaks are rising in a row toward the south.  According to a tale, when King Wi of China saw the image of eight peaks reflected on a washbasin, he was surprised and issued a royal order to find that mountain, and then his subjects found that mountain in Goheung, Joseon.  This is the origin of its name.

It is not high but geographical feature is steep and endlessly changeable.  So you can enjoy juicy hiking.  Equipped with iron stairs and ropes in dangerous places it is easy to ascend stone ridgelines without particular equipment. Also as there are many detours along the summit, if paying attention, beginners can enjoy safe hiking.  From the top, including the view of Daemado (Island) in the distance, the scenery of Dadohae displaying in sight is fantastic.
